All of us at Reachout are full of pride for our trio of star philanthropists, Amy, Calli and Alix (pictured, left to right) who courageously stood up at their school's Youth Philanthropy Initiative event and talked passionately about the work Reachout does in the Clacks and Forth Valley community...AND WON!!! Woohooooo!
After some great conversations Reachout's Andy had with them at Lornshill Academy's Charity Expo Event, the three girls visited Reachout to research the charity and interview staff and members about how it benefits the community and how £3000 might be spent. The group were one of two groups who chose us as their charity to support.
They asked some members about their experiences coming to Reachout and left equipped with enough information to present it back to their school and charity guests.
We are over the moon that after reaching the final our talented team gave the winning presentation, highlighting the prevalence, invisibility and stigma surrounding mental health conditions and how Reachout offers a space to overcome these. The girls did really well- such great ambassadors for their school, Reachout and philanthropy, they should be very proud of themselves! You can watch their winning presentation, the winner announcement and a 'backstage' interview with Alix and Calli, talking about how they included audience participation in the presentation.
The £3000 donation they have won for us through YPI will be spent on recruiting sessional arts specialists to deliver workshops for our INSPIRE young people's project, as well as materials and vital bits of equipment to make INSPIRE happen. We hope Amy, Calli and Alix will inspire other young people to find out about Reachout and come along over the summer to get involved, either as members or volunteers.
The other team who worked with us, Zak and Lewis, did a fantastic job as well and contributed hugely to raising awareness of the charity and its value in the community. We loved their quiz!
Once again, thanks and well done teams! Come back any time.
