Wishes For Wellbeing
During 2023 - 2024, we collaborated with the Japanese Garden and Ochil Youths Community Improvement participants to develop the Wishes for Wellbeing project. This initiative empowered locals to animate Sadako Sasaki's story and the 1000 cranes.
Guided by Reachout Artist Facilitator George Farrow-Hawkins, four young people from OYCI and 2 Reachout members delved into animation techniques and Sadako's tale, a poignant narrative of hope emerging from the aftermath of the 1945 Hiroshima bombing.
Under George's guidance and inspired by storyteller Lindsey Gibb's narration, they crafted animations narrating Sadako's journey influenced by the explored story and culture.
