Pathways to Employment: Katrina
"My confidence and self-esteem are improving as I learn the role and progress with further training."
"I have revived past skills, learnt new skills and I’m hopeful about my continuing journey."
After trying unsuccessfully to get back into an employed administrative role, I enquired via the Reachout website about their Admin Support Volunteering and was invited into the studio for a visit.
Immediately after stepping through the doors into the Reachout Studio, I had such a good feeling, it was a very calming space and I felt at ease.
I began volunteering in the Admin Support role and with the support of the Reachout team I started to gain confidence in my ability to carry out admin tasks under the direction of the Senior Artist Facilitator & Engagement Manager. I received training in Safeguarding Adults (Level 3) and NSPCC Child Protection. I participated in painting and still life workshops alongside welcoming members which was a very positive and enjoyable experience and an opportunity to put forgotten art skills into practice again.
The Reachout team are very supportive, friendly, patient and mindful so when Reachout advertised an Administration & Finance Assistant role, I decided to apply. I was successful in the interview process and started employment with Reachout under the direction of the Operations & Finance Manager. My confidence and self-esteem are improving as I learn the role and progress with further training in Xero Finance Certification.
I am very grateful to the Reachout team and feel supported in my new role. I have revived past skills, learnt new skills and I’m hopeful about my continuing journey with the Reachout team.
