About the event

All of us at Reachout are delighted that our studio is playing host to a series of events in partnership with Enterprise Music Scotland, the National Body for Chamber Music. These lunchtime events are aimed at providing opportunities for our community to experience and be involved in classical music, who might not otherwise have the means, access or confidence to engage in it.

The first event is open to members, their friends, family and care givers, as well as partner organisations. Future events will be open to the public and we hope to take them to other locations within Alloa and the Forth Valley.

We are pleased to welcome Roxburgh Quartet to Reachout as our first ensemble. Please see their website for more information about the musicians and their impressive repertoire - http://www.roxburghquartet.com/

The poster for this event was created through a Visualising Music workshop we did and the drawing, by member Callum, was informed directly by a piece of music from Roxburgh Quartet's repertoire.

The emphasis of the Classical in the Community events is on relaxation and active listening within an informal environment. Audiences do not need to face the performers if they don't want to - sitting, standing, moving around, drawing, painting, knitting, doodling...whatever works for you as long as it does not impact on others' enjoyment of the music or the performers' ability to play.

Members need not subscribe to attend this event but please let us know if you plan to bring non-members with you, other than your regular support/care givers. We encourage any non-members to make a small donation to Reachout.

If you work for a partner organisation and would like to bring along any of your service users, please let us know in advance.

Standard info...

This event is free for Reachout members (usual £1 drop-in fee applies unless annual membership fee has been paid).

Unless otherwise advertised, all Reachout workshops and activities are for existing members, their care/support givers and partner organisations only (partners please get in touch in advance if you have anyone keen to attend). If you or someone you support would like to join Reachout as a member, please call us on 01259 214 951 or email info@reachoutwithartsinmind.org.uk to arrange a visit and one of our small team will show you around and explain the service to you. We take referrals from many public, private and third sector organisations but individuals can also self-refer. Please see our website for more info about Reachout and our workshops/activities.
