At Reachout we champion and practice the positive impact creativity can have on wellbeing. Here are five low cost, accessible ways to stay creative across the festive period.

1. Keep a tiny sketchbook nearby Grab any notebook and fill a page a day with doodles, patterns, or quick sketches. No pressure, no rules.
3-step guides to get started:
Brew a small amount of tea or coffee and allow it to cool.
Use a brush, cotton bud, or even your finger to paint light washes or simple shapes.
Layer darker tones by adding more tea/coffee as it dries.

2. Turn everyday materials into mini collages
Cut or tear old magazines, packaging, or mail and arrange them into small art pieces.
3-step guides to get started:
Gather materials including magazines, envelopes, packaging, old receipts
Tear or cut out shapes, colours, or textures that catch your eye.
Glue or stick them on to a surface (paper, cardboard, etc) in any order or layout—no rules, just play.

3. Try mindful drawing or colouring (Neuro Art) Neuro Art is an intuitive drawing process where you create free-flowing lines and shapes, then slowly build them up with colour and simple details. The focus is on the calming rhythm of making, helping to reduce stress and support emotional wellbeing.
3-step guides to get started:
Draw random shapes, including circles, waves, or patterns that flow naturally.
Colour mindfully using whatever pens or pencils you have, focusing on slow, steady strokes.
Reflect briefly, pausing to notice your breathing, mood, and the calming effect of the colours.
